Meccanoid Madness

imageStarting last week, the Linden SDA sixth grade STEAM participants began a journey together–one that is anticipated to be long, but rewarding.

Led and encouraged by their classmate Rolando and yours truly, the sixth graders began to build a four foot robot called the Meccanoid K15. The robot has over one hundred nuts and bolts, seventy-five individual parts, and will take several weeks to assemble.

Even though they were initially taken aback by the daunting task ahead, the sixth graders are excited and ready to take on the challenge or assembling and programming this robot.

When programed to full potential, the Meccanoid is like a walking Siri or Cortana. It can give definitions and pertinent information, in addition to being able to sing, dance, and practice karate.

Needless to say, the sixth-graders are working hard to put Meccanoid together, and working together to get it done.
