For our next lesson, students will start designing a community quilt based on water. All students will be responsible for creating a design for they believe the quilt should look like. To do this we created a community Pinterest board where each student posted at least 5 pictures that remind them of water, as well as patterns of quilts they found interesting. The pinterest board can be seen here. Next Each Student drew a quilt pattern based on water. This upcoming week, we will combine ideas to create a quilt with the theme of water. Then we will embed the Quilt with LED’s!
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
