Last week we finished two major projects that we spent the last two months working on. We finished our quilt by adding LED’s and we finished our LED Protest posters. Students Reviewed the word “Activist” and how they can be and already are agents of change in their community. We spoke about the importance of water and why it is crucial to protect. We reviewed two major events where communities used Activism to fight for their rights including Lead poisoning in Flint Michigan and the Dakota Access Pipeline.
For up coming weeks, students will learn about water, ableism, and how it affects communities of color.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
