The team, with members Jaelle Campbell, Jaden Duncan, and Ajani Semple, assembled and completed both challenges for the day, the first being an onsite challenge in which they had to come up with a garbage can that would be more effective than the type we use in New York–it would encourage people to encourage their trash away, get rid of odors, and be attractive and visible. The STEAM GameChangers designed a hoop that had fluorescent lights, a hoop (ever the athletes) to shoot your trash into, and a built-in air freshener every time trash was deposited.

The second half of the Challenge was used for the teams to judge and present their previously built challenge game. As luck would have it, the first time competing GameChangers were the first to present before the judges. They were a little nervous, but they did an excellent job and were well received.

Finally, to close off the competition, there was a Peersuasion portion, in which each of the competitors wrote a review about a game they played and wrote critically. Jaelle Campbell won this portion for her team, winning us bragging rights and $100. She wrote very well, impressing parents, judges, and her coach.

I was so proud of the efforts that the team made–they performed well and worked hard, and truly won.
