After a nice, long summer, we’re excited to begin a new school year. The photography and digital media class began this week with some ice breakers and discussions surrounding this year’s theme of economic development. After viewing some of the students’ videos from last year we primed ourselves for some brainstorming about what kinds of projects we could make as a class this year. Students talked about the issues they see in their community, and what might be some of the sources of those problems. Check this page regularly as the STEAM staff and I will post twice a month for updates on this lovely program’s progress.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
