Lights! Camera! Action!

For the past two weeks, the 6th and 7th graders, as individual classes, have been creating their own unique movies. The students have been examining the ins and outs of film genres, movie production, and plot creating or script making.

They have been guided to make lighthearted mini-movies about topics that are relatable to them. The 6th graders have chosen to make a comedy about two new high school students in the ninth grade. They have been curious about their futures as young adults and want to create what the high school experience may be like. I have encouraged them to think about friend dynamics and the personal growth that will take place between now and their ninth grade school year.

The 7th graders are more curious about action and thrilling movies and want to make a comedy thriller. While they are still in the process of creating a short script I believe their movie will have an awesome cliffhanger. Within the next few weeks the students will be ready to present quality movies with a lot of fun and charming comedy throughout.
