On the week before the break I had the privilege of escorting the 8th graders to the Laurelton Long Island Railroad station to do some cleaning and get some petition signatures for the community garden. This group’s energy was contagious as commuters felt compelled to stop and see what the kids were offering. They gave me no trouble whatsoever. The trip was a success. I know these ambitious youngsters are gonna do great things in the future. 
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
