Interviewing

This week students honed their filmmaking skills as well as their skills on-screen by recording their own interviews, which were inspired by the documentary Rosedale – The Way It Is. This video of Jaelle and Gabrielle (6th grade) was presented as if they were citizens of Rosedale during the 1970’s responding to the discrimination that black homeowners faced in the area. In this video Timara operated the camera, and recorded the interview twice – once with camera on just Jaelle’s face, and another time with the camera on just Gabrielle’s face. I then edited the footage together to make the two separate recordings look like one cohesive conversation.

For more information about what the students are discussing, please watch this documentary about Rosedale and read my previous posts.
