Since the beginning of hand to hand combat people across the globe have done their best to acquire the best styles as well as perfect them to its peak. Once this peak has been met these individuals began to call themselves masters of that style. These kung fu masters would travel their nearest lands and furthest to figure out if their style was better than the next.

After generations of separate clans of separate fighting styles based on families and bloodlines, public kung fu schools were soon open and available to anyone who could pay. Eventually some schools began to raise more than one master. Which then they would either compete for headmaster of the school or start their own kung fu school teaching the same style.

After time tournaments wereheld allowing local schools of the same style to compete against one another. Soon after that competitions were created to allow multiple styles to compete for number one. An avoidable conclusion had soon come about. That a style is as good as its user. Granted every technique has weakness which leads to the most common saying in kung fu. “My style did not beat yours, but instead I beat you who were using this style.

This acceptance allowed kung fu to branch and grow into many fields of health and enlightenment.  Meditation for thoughtless reaction.  A persons reflex ability is measured by the vessel and never the style. In my classes I have taught the children a handful of different style and techniques. Now I have introduced the art in martial arts.IMG_3901

Japanese Calligraphy has been the newest lesson. Japanese Calligraphy is associated with martial arts and the art of writing. The two combine create what is known by some as a graceful samurai.  A graceful Samurai is one that understands more than the fact that feet allow people to stand, but more importantly why people are allowed to step on whets beneath them. Three hundred and sixty degrees is a samurai space of defense as well as attack.retina_shutterstock_92327719

Calligraphy pushes the inner creativity of each individual to not only find but to create every angle and avenue possible. With every repetitive stroke creates and effortless reflex in angle of defense or vice versa. These samurai as deadly with swords were as humble as the plants they grew and catered too. Calligraphy is very therapeutic and consists of either ink or sand calligraphy. Calligraphy has been a huge inspiration into ancient writing and modern day graffiti. It has thus far been a very creative experience for the children and knowledgeable as well.
