Posing like the Masters

Recently students have been emulating the paintings of artist Kehinde Wiley. Wiley is known for painting black and brown people in the style of Classical Masters. He raises these ordinary people, whom may be considered unprofessional, to the status of kings and queens. Students learned to compose, light, and model for a photograph by replicating Wiley’s paintings. Later, the students will learn to use green screens in addition to photo-editing software in order to complete the image by inserting a patterned background behind their subjects (similar to Wiley’s paintings).

I found it while uploading the students pictures from an SD card, so I have yet to find out who took it. It’s certainly one of the most interesting photographs I’ve seen from a student so far.
