Following the previous weeks’ class, in which students brainstormed business ideas and made flyers, the digital media class are now preparing for the video production phase of our class. Before we do that, we’re writing treatment scripts for our business ideas. This is a step all screenwriters make before beginning any type of video production. Students plan out the title, the duration, the characters, and the story arc of their commercials before writing the actual script.
As is tradition every year, the 6th graders made light painting photos in order to introduce them to camera and lighting basics. The position of the camera and the brightness are the two most important things to filmmaking, and these lessons serve as an excellent exercise in these principles. Here’s are a few examples below:
