The students of the DIVAS STEAM program at Linden SDA have began participating in the Nike Zoom Basketball League. This league organized by DYCD and sponsored by Nike Zoom is an opportunity for beacon programs to display their skills and compete against each other. We have been able to compose two teams. A varsity as well as a junior varsity squad. On Mondays our JV travels to MS 72 in Rochdale Village.
The Varsity team visits the Boys and Girls Club in Richmond Hill on Wednesdays.
This is the first opportunity for some of the students in an official setting; Referees, standings, statisticians amongst other things. Our students have worked very hard on developing their skills on and off of the court. Their discipline and ability to execute will be put to the test. The students will learn while having fun. The best of both worlds!!!

DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
