Act, Direct, and Write! This week at STEAM CAMP

The STEAM students stretched their movie making minds this week, by first learning about the process of creating stop motion movies. The students used the Lego to build houses and cars and then took a series of consecutive images to creating a moving picture. We did not only spend our time behind the camera, but also in front of it. With help from Ms. K  they discovered their love of acting and screen writing but writing in proper screen writing format and acting in a murder mystery that they  created.

It is always important that here at STEAM camp we learn not only about our backyard of Bed-S  tuy but also about other cultures and countries, especially during 2016 as the Olympic games begin. During our online journalism, Ms. Zawadi gave the students , cities such as Paris or Stockholm and the students had to research the city. Later in the week they wrote a letter to a pen pal in their chosen city explaining what life is like in Brooklyn and how it compares or differs to their chosen city. It was a great way for the students to learn about different forms of writing styles not just essay format, but screen writing format and letter writing.

With the final  week quickly approaching, we are preparing for our SnapChat  Fashion Show and the fun we will have with creating our own tye-dye shirts!
