Last week, we focused on measuring patches and sewing them together. First students measured the panels to be 5 inches. Next they measured a half of inch from the edge of each panel and left a mark so they knew where to begin sewing. Last, the students used a sewing method called a back stitch to attach panels to one another.
This week the Students will continue to sew the panels together to create the base for their pattern.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
